Austria and Italy encourage small solar installations

--

The Austrian government today launched a € 36 million tax rebate program for small solar system with battery storage devices. Two-thirds of the funding will provide a 12 million euro subsidy for rooftop photovoltaic energy storage.

Managed by OeMAG Energy Agency, the program provides homeowners with a solar roof power generation capacity of 250 euros per kilowatt and a storage capacity of 200 euros per kilowatt hour. Discounts can be applied for solar systems with a capacity of up to 500kW, while storage units can be up to 60MWh.

The Austrian Solar Association PVA estimates that these funds should facilitate the deployment of 100 MW of solar capacity and 60 MWh of energy storage.
